The Queensland Police is one of the most sought after police services in Australia. There are more people looking for information on how to excel in police selection in Queensland than any other state*. One of the most common failings for unsuccessful applicants of the Queensland Police selection is the QPS Entrance Assessment  (QPSea). This is made up of five (5) separate components. Each component is separately timed and each component will be completed on a computer.

This is an extremely competitive State Police Service. With such a high volume of applications it can take anywhere between 6 - 9 months to process. Successful applicants go on to complete a 31 week intensive course at the Victoria Police Academy, followed by post Academy placements and driver training, and will finally graduate with a Diploma of Policing. You may be posted anywhere within Victoria on graduation so be prepared for that.

NSW Police Entrance Requirements 

The NSW Police recruitment is conducted through Charles Sturt University. 

If you are considering a policing career with the NSW Police Force, one of the first steps will be completing a foundation level program called the University Certificate in Workforce Essentials (UCWE). The UCWE prepares students for the challenges of the Constable Education Program / Associate Degree in Policing Practice and is the mandatory academic requirement for all NSW Police Force applicants.

The Western Australia Police is known for upholding the highest physical entry standards of any police service in the country. Depending on your age and gender you will be required to score up to level 7.01 on the Beep Test as well as complete numerous other physical tasks including the “Illinois Agility Test”. Again, the Western Australia Police has the highest standard for this agility test for both men and women of any police service in the country.

Yet to make it to the physical assessment training stage, you must first negotiate a gruelling series of aptitude, spelling, writing, psychological, numerical reasoning and selection interviews.

When the next recruit squad is trained only the top thirty applicants will be selected. So it is critical that you perform at your very best during each stage of testing.

The South Australia Police is another highly competitive state police service. South Australia Police have also launched a new recruitment campaign to further boost the quality of applicants in each selection pool.

If you pass each stage of selection you will eventually be ranked and graded amongst the hundreds of other applicants. When the next recruit squad is trained only the top applicants will be selected. One of the unique aspects of the NT Police recruitment process is the scored Physical Assessment. Rather than a few simple pass/fail requirements, you are scored over a series of SEVEN physical assessments. This provides a very accurate comparison between applicants. It is therefore critical to perform at an excellent standard physically.

The remaining written testing phase and interview panel are similar to that conducted around the country. These elements of testing are also heavily scrutinised. Plus if you fail to meet the standard you may have to wait another year before being permitted to make another application – so be sure you are prepared on the day!
